Vacancy: Driver Trained Occupational Therapist
DPVA Ltd is seeking expression of interest from experienced Driver Trained Occupational Therapists who may wish to join our team.
DPVA Ltd is a specialty Driving Assessment service whose client base ranges from young children through to older people, all with varying medical conditions, injuries or disabilities.
As Occupational Therapists, our core goal is to help people maintain their independence with driving and/or to travel safely inside a vehicle.
We typically:- Assess how a person's medical condition, injury or disability might impact on their ability to drive safely and legally (determine physical & cognitive capacity);- Recommend appropriate vehicle modifications & provide training in their use; - Assess work-related driving capacity (including commercial vehicle licenses);- Help an individual with an acquired or congenital disability begin driving;- Complete an ergonomic assessment to determine the best driving posture and facilitate improved driving performance;- For those who can not drive (passengers), help identify relevant alternative transport options to ensure the person can continue to access the community. We work with a diverse range of customers including:- Accident Compensation Corporation- Ministry of Health- Lottery Grants Board- Employers- Privately-funded individuals. We can offer you:- Ongoing supervision- Training and continuous professional development- Active participation in the further development of the service- To be part of a progressive service which promotes speciality area and career development. This role will suit an Occupational Therapist that has experience working in Driving Assessment and Rehabilitation. This role will involve a lot of on-the-job training, and this requires a long-term commitment. The application must have the ability to manage a caseload and relationships with multiple stakeholders is essential. Applicants must be willing to travel frequently (including over-night stays in other NZ cities (Possibly up to 2 nights a month). Location: Office is in Mount Wellington, Auckland (with some flexibility to work from home). Travel to other areas of the country is often required.
